Minnesota’s lieutenant governor Peggy Flanagan put on a hijab, a headgear often worn by Muslim women to affirm their submission to men. Flanagan wore the hijab, even though she is Catholic, to display solidarity with the Somali community of Minnesota, which has come under national scrutiny for its huge levels of fraud.
The lieutenant governor stated “I am incredibly clear that the Somali community is part of the fabric of the state of Minnesota. I . . . encourage . . . support [for] our our Somali businesses, support our immigrant neighbors, and I know that things are scary right now.”
Somali corruption is one scary thing that doesn’t seem to faze her at all. The U.S. Treasury Department is investigating Somali-linked organizations which may have bilked taxpayers for a much as much as $9 billion. Federal prosecutor Joe Thompson observed that “What we see in Minnesota is not a handful of bad actors committing crimes. It’s staggering, industrial-scale fraud.”
It’s a pity that Peggy Flanagan can’t display some solidarity with the native-born Americans who are getting fleeced by Somali fraud and welfare use. Like so many of our elites, she would rather virtue signal about immigrants than advocate for the majority that she is supposed to represent.
