Border Czar Tom Homan refuted the notion propagated by illegal alien advocates that most migrants who have crossed our border illegally have legitimate claims for asylum. In an interview with Border Hawk News, Homan observed that federal immigration judges deny about nine out of ten asylum claims.
He stated, “They simply don’t qualify for asylum. They’re not escaping for fear of persecution in their homeland for race, religion, or political affiliation. They’re coming here for a better life, and I get that, but it’s not asylum.”
Homan further maintained that the Trump Administration is processing asylum much more quickly than the Biden Administration did. Under Biden “they put [asylum seekers] in the custody of an NGO who put them in a hotel at $500 a night — because they [knew] doing that would push their hearing out three, five, [or] seven years because an immigration judge would prioritize those in detention.” Homan added that many cases now are completed within weeks
