Deported Families Can Stay Together

The Quote Below—More Misinformation from the Media

“Parents don’t let their babies go. Give them a choice, and it’s no choice. My baby goes with me.

“That primal instinct, that cocoon of protection, that deep-seated love, has been weaponized by President Donald Trump’s administration, which doesn’t care about keeping families together. Instead, the government is giving moms and dads here illegally a choice: Take your children born in the United States with you or leave them here, alone. It’s a genius move. And it’s evil. . . .

“Instead of keeping families together, Team Trump has decided to tear them apart, so long as the President can crow about deportation numbers. . . .  This isn’t an exaggeration. Three American-born children, ages 2, 4 and 7, last week were deported to Honduras with their mothers, and a judge wondered whether the government sanctioned the removal of U.S. citizens to a foreign country. . . .

“And in Ohio, an illegal immigrant seeking asylum has been arrested and threatened with deportation. He has a wife and two children — one born in the United States — and his family could face the same, terrible choice.

“There’s another common thread in most of these cases. The illegal immigrants willfully go to their check-ins, where they’re arrested. Some have legal deportation orders from years ago, which begs the question: Why now?” – Trump Weaponizes Babies against Their Moms by Tearing Immigrant Families Apart, Ray Marcano, USA Today, 5/2/25 [Link]

Fact Check of Above Quote: Illegal alien advocates try to play our heartstrings with their sad—and manipulative—tales about family separation. Something to consider is that illegal aliens were aware that they could face consequences when they decided to ignore our immigration laws. They have no grounds to complain when those consequences come to pass.

Furthermore, the separation of lawbreakers from their families is commonly a part of law enforcement and punishment, and it applies to everyone, citizens and foreigners alike. Tom Homan, the Trump Administration’s “border czar,” once observed that “When I was a cop in New York and I arrested a father for domestic violence, or someone for [driving under the influence], I separated that family. When you violate the law with a child, you’re going to be separated.”

And when illegal aliens are deported, they can avoid separation from their families by simply taking their families back with them. The writer of this article seems to think this is a horrible option. But why? If the children are U.S.-born citizens, they can be with their parents until they grow up, and then they can come back if they so choose. Having to go home, even with their children, might be inconvenient for the parents, but we can’t base law enforcement on the convenience of lawbreakers.

The writer tries to appeal to compassion, but Americans are tired of having their kindness abused and manipulated by people who scheme to open our borders to anyone and everyone who wants to come. Compassion unrestrained by justice and prudence leads to chaos. The writer asks why Trump is stepping up enforcement now. But why not now? Enforcement is long overdue.
