Court Upholds Trump Asylum Policy

The Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that the Trump Administration’s policy to combat asylum fraud could stay in effect while it is being litigated. Many current asylum applicants pass through other countries after leaving their homelands to reach the U.S. If they were truly seeking no more than a haven from danger they could have applied for asylum in those countries. What appears likely is that applying for amnesty here is just an excuse to reap the economic benefits of getting into the U.S.

With this understanding in mind, the administration has required most asylum applicants demonstrate that they previously sought amnesty in the countries they crossed to come here. A spokesman for the White House stated, ‘We are pleased the Supreme Court has ruled our Administration can implement important, needed fixes to the broken asylum system.”
