Cook County Releasing Violent Aliens

The violent crime rate in Chicago is 242% higher than that of the U.S. in general.

Apparently not content with so low a score, the “progressive” leadership of Cook County, IL, which includes Chicago, released in 2019 more than 1000 violent offenders from its jails, ignoring requests by ICE officials that they be held. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that such releases are bound to increase the already astronomical crime rate even more.

According to ICE, in the past year, the agency issued a total of 1070 “detainer” requests for criminal aliens and immigration violators being held by Cook County. Those requests were denied and the offenders were released back into the population.

In an interview with Fox News, former acting ICE Director Thomas Homan called the policy “just stupid,” adding that “the violence in Chicago is unprecedented.” He went on to explain that the 1070 figure covers only those criminal aliens about whom ICE was aware and that thousands more, not in their database, were likely released as well.

Releasing a public safety threat back into the public to re-offend when you can turn them over to ICE legally, that’s just stupid.

ICE maintains a list online of offenders for whom detainers have been requested in so-called “sanctuary” or non-cooperative jurisdictions, which includes Cook County. You might want to take a look to see if your local officials are needlessly endangering your family by ignoring detainer requests.
