"Nativist" is a slur that immigration advocates often use to demean Americans who believe that our immigration policy should place the interests of American citizens ahead of foreigners who would like to move here. In an article published in Roll Call, Sessions related that he had been called a nativist. His response: “What’s wrong with that? . . . What’s wrong with putting America[ns] first?” The article also quoted a congressional staffer who stated that “It should go without saying that the country exists to serve the interests of its citizens . . . so that fact that we have the [sneering] term ‘nativist’ implies that some people think the citizens shouldn’t have that priority.”

In order to collect severance pay, he and other American workers had to train those foreign replacements who came to this country under the H-1B program. Tech companies like Disney claim that they have to hire H-1Bs because they can't find enough qualified Americans to fill job openings. The author, who writes anonymously, states it was strange that Disney thought its American workers were unqualified when they were needed to train their replacements. Many critics of tech companies charge that they hire H-1Bs because they can pay them less than Americans.
