Illegal Aliens Do Voter Drive

A group of illegal aliens who received temporary legal status under the DACA program is involved in door-to-door drive to turn out voters in Northern Virginia. They are urging people to support candidates who favor permanent amnesty. One of these drive participants stated that DACA recipients have "a responsibility to change the power structure." He added that "Our voices need to be heard."

Schumer Seeks Amnesty

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) says that if the Democrats regain control of the Senate, he will move to push amnesty legislation. With a Democrat majority, Schumer would become Senate majority leader. Schumer was one of the leaders behind legislation introduced in 2013 to grant amnesty to illegal aliens and a large increase in legal immigration. That measure passed the Senate, but companion legislation failed in the House.

Orban: Resist ‘Sovietization’

Speaking at a commemoration of Hungary's 1956 anti-Communist revolution, Hungary's Prime Minister Victor Orban said that European countries must resist the 'Sovietization' being imposed on them by the European Union, particularly its policy of mass immigration. He stated that the nations of Europe have the right to preserve their historic character and Christian traditions. Orban affirmed that "People who love their freedom [must resist] Sovietization from people who want to tell us who we should live with in our countries.

Asylum Claims Sharply Increase

Asylum claims by unauthorized aliens at the border have increased tenfold since 2009. Commenting on this situation, House Judiciary Committee chairman Bob Goodlatte commented, "Unfortunately, . . . because of our well justified reputation for compassion, many people are attempting to file fraudulent claims just so they can get a free pass into the United States."

64 Million U.S. Residents Don’t Speak English at Home

In 2015, 64.7 million U.S. residents spoke a language other than English at home, according to data from the Census Bureau. Mainly as a consequence of mass immigration, this is double the number in 1990 when 31.8 million spoke another language at home. Furthermore, the 2015 total is almost triple the total of 1980. In terms of percentage, 11 percent of residents in 1980 spoke a non-English language at home, compared with the 2015 percentage of 21.5 percent.

Illegal Immigration Increases

Illegal immigration across the Mexican border is increasing as shown by the Border Patrol's apprehension statistics. In fiscal 2015, the Border Patrol apprehended 331,333 illegal aliens at the border. In fiscal 2016 the total was 408,870, an increase of 23 percent.

Clinton: Limiting Immigration ‘Un-American’

According to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Americans who want to limit immigration are "fundamentally un-American." This statement was from a transcript of her speech in 2013 to the executives of Goldman Sachs recently made public by WikiLeaks. The speech praised the 2013 "gang of eight" legislation as "immigration reform." That measure, which did not become law, would have granted amnesty to illegal aliens and substantially increased legal immigration. Said Clinton in her speech, "What I really resent about the [immigration] obstructionists is that is that they have such a narrow view of America. . . . I don't care what they call themselves. . . . They have to be rejected because they are fundamentally un-American."

U.S. Immigrant Total Exceeds 42 Million

Data from the Census Bureau from 2014 and 2015 show that the U.S. immigrant population (legal and illegal) stands at 42.4 million, the highest total ever in our history. From 2000 to 2014, 18.7 million legal and illegal immigrants settled in the U.S.

Border Apprehensions Less Than DHS Claim

A report from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) conceded that only 54 percent of the people illegally entering the U.S. from Mexico last year were caught. DHS has officially claimed that the capture rate was 81 percent. Rep. Martha McSally (R-AZ) strongly criticized DHS for discrepancy. She stated, "Given that DHS knows these facts, they need to stop pushing misleading measurements that don't show the full picture and create mistrust with the American public."
