Cruz Opposes Amnesty Citizenship

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) voted against the Senate considering an immigration proposal which would give amnesty recipients a pathway to citizenship. He stated that "[I]t would be a serious mistake for Congress to pass legislation that grants a path to citizenship for those here illegally. Such a policy is inconsistent with the promises that [President Trump] and Republicans have made to the voters and is in fact further to the left of President Obama's position."

Cotton: DACA Plan Final Offer

As the Senate moves to debate immigration, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) says that the DACA proposal offered by President Trump is "[the] best and final offer that the Democrats will get." It offers amnesty for 1.8 million illegal aliens in exchange for increased measures against illegal immigration and curbs on chain migration. Such a deal will be difficult because many Democrats want amnesty without significant concessions, and some Republicans believe that the number of proposed amnesty recipients is far too high.

Columnist: GOP Senators Conspire with Democrats

Neil Munro, a columnist for Breitbart, says that cheap labor Republican senators are conspiring with Senate Democrats to pass an amnesty for illegal aliens without any significant concessions to help curb illegal immigration and reduce legal chain migration.

Pelosi Praises Illegal aliens

During her recent filibuster speech before the House, House minority leader Nancy Pelosi stated that illegal aliens in the DACA category are "the pride of our nation." She also said that it was a "proud day" for her when her six-year old grandson wished that he was Hispanic instead of being white.

ICE Union Criticizes Trump Proposal

The union representing employees of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) says that President Trump's immigration plan is inadequate. The union's president Chris Crane stated, "We simply cannot in good faith support any legislative effort on immigration that does not include provisions regarding immigration detainers, sanctuary cities and smuggling cities and the smuggling and trafficking of children across U.S. borders. "

Refugee Admissions Down

Refugee admissions have declined under the Trump Administration. For the first four months of fiscal year 2018 were only 6,708. The total for the same period of fiscal year 2017, almost all of which was during the Obama Administration, was 32,448. Organizations in the U.S. that sponsor refugee resettlement (called VOLAGs) are disappointed by the decline. They receive huge sums of taxpayers' money to carry out their so-called charity.

Asylum System Facing ‘Fraud and Abuse’

In recent years illegal aliens have learned that making bogus claims for asylum is a way to remain in the United States. As a result the Department of Homeland Security says that the system has reached a "crisis" where it has become "increasingly vulnerable to fraud and abuse." Asylum applicants get work permits while their cases are being processed. The processing can often take years. The Trump Administration is trying to remedy this problem by speeding up review of asylum claims.

Kochs Support Chain Migration

Billionaires Charles and David Koch are "conservatives" who support mass immigration in order to provide cheap labor for business interests.  They have expressed strong opposition to President Trump's proposal to cut "chain migration," the policy largely responsible for giving us the largest sustained level of immigration in our history--more than one million immigrants a year for the past twenty-five years.

Amnesty Could Total Far More than 1.8 Million

In his State of the Union Address, President Trump reaffirmed his proposal to grant amnesty to 1.8 million illegal aliens in exchange for a reduction of chain migration and other reforms. Breitbart News published a "Fact Check" article which  maintains that this figure would only set the stage for a much larger number, perhaps as many as  4.5 million. This projection is based on the history of the 1986 amnesty when many more illegal aliens got amnesty than the number originally proposed.

Study: Illegal Aliens Commit More Crimes Than Natives

Illegal alien advocates often claim is illegal aliens, aside from their unlawful status, commit fewer crimes than native-born Americans. A recent study by the Crime Prevention Center challenges this claim.  It found that illegal aliens between the ages of 15 and 35 comprise 8 percent of Arizona's prison population, even though they are less than three percent of the state's population. The director of the Center, John R. Lott Jr, noted that they disproportionately commit serious crimes. As one example is that they account for 13 percent of first and second degree murder convictions in Arizona.  U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has recently this study in a statement about crime committed by illegal aliens.
