The campaign to disrupt federal immigration law enforcement in Minneapolis did not just organically arise from a local, irate citizenry. It is the creation of a cabal of highly organized and clearly well-funded activist organizations whose activities date back years, at least to the so-called 2020 “summer of love,” where Minneapolis and other cities around American erupted into chaos.
These groups include the Democratic Socialists of America, major labor unions, explicitly Communist groups, a protest network linked to the Chinese Communist Party, the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), the left-wing BreakThrough News media outlet, and the Manhattan-based Marxist revolutionary People’s Forum.
Note that in most cases, these organizations are not limited to Minneapolis or Minnesota; they are national, with a national goal of involving all 50 states. In fact, one of the organizations is called “50501,” – which stands for “50 protests, 50 states, 1 movement.” It is a protest organization and mobilization network that helps organize street demonstrations nationwide.
The broad coalition of socialists, communists, and anarchists organized a strike in Minneapolis on Friday and called for a second today, following the shooting of an armed protestor by ICE over the weekend.
Many of the activists belonging to or supported by this coalition are organizing their obstruction of ICE enforcement operations through a chat system known as the Minneapolis Signal Chat. An independent journalist named Cam Higby claims to have infiltrated the group and has leaked numerous screenshots displaying their activities.
Although ICE agents are active in many US cities, and thus far only Minneapolis has reached this peak of disruption, the goal of this revolutionary coalition is to embroil the entire country in violence insurrection. Unless steps are taken soon, they may get their wish.
