Britain Celebrates “Refugee Week”

Bizarrely, Great Britain is “celebrating” its displacement and demise. The Britain Home Office, in charge of all things immigration-related and headed by the Conservative Party’s Priti Patel, daughter of Indian parents by way of Uganda, has declared this week “Refugee Week” throughout the United Kingdom. During this UK-wide “festival,” all Britons, officially at least, will be “celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary.”

Ms. Patel herself proclaimed:

Thanks to the generosity and support of the British people, thousands of refugees from every part of the world are here making enormous contributions to our society, culture, economy, and we are a better country for it. I am moved hearing about the incredible stories of those that have overcome hardship to not just live, but to thrive and call the UK their home.

The UK government boasts that since 2015, more than 25,000 refugees fleeing “cruel circumstances across the world” have been resettled in the UK, more than any other European country. An additional 29,000 have been resettled through the “refugee family reunion scheme.”

Under the so-called “New Plan for Immigration,” announced in April, refugees resettled in the country “will be granted full rights and entitlements through indefinite leave to remain.”

Though the open door to refugees and asylum seekers is intended to put a legal face on the ongoing invasion, the illegal aspect of that invasion continues apace. Thus far in 2021, more than 5,000 illegal migrants have entered the country after crossing the English Channel from France. Another 110 arrived on Monday of this week.

Meanwhile, the Home Office under Patel is proving inept at even removing those comparative few illegals it has chosen to deport. This year, they have marked 1,503 for deportation. So far, they’re all still here, presumably still making those “enormous contributions.” Last year, the government managed 3,327 deportations, which was less than half the number in 2019. Deportations have, in fact, been declining steadily since 2013. One obstacle to the removal of undesirables is that, strangely enough, though officially exited from the EU, Britain remains subject to the European human rights regime, which allows potential deportees to appeal their deportation on humanitarian grounds.

Many of the foreigners in Britain, whom the government is celebrating, are on the dole. More than 10,294 migrants are currently receiving full government support, including taxpayer-funded housing and a weekly stipend. That represents an increase of 300 per cent over last year. All told, at least 61,241 asylum seekers are currently receiving some form of government welfare. In addition, violent crime in Britain, often committed by gangs of foreigners and also under the charge of the Home Office, is skyrocketing. According to UKCrimeStatistics.com, there was a 15.8 per cent rise in violent crime in England and Wales between June and July of last year, as the number of incidents jumped from 147,857 to 163,624.

All of which has earned the Right Honorable Priti Sushil Patel MP her new moniker: “Priti Useless.”
