BP Chief: No Operational Control

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has maintained that his agency has operational control over our southern border. The head of the Border Patrol, Raul Ortiz, denied this claim in recent testimony at a House Homeland Security Committee hearing held in McAllen, TX.

Rep. Mark Green (R-TN), the chairman of the committee, asked Ortiz: “Does DHS have operational control of our entire border?” Ortiz replied, “No sir.”

The U.S. Code defines operational control as “the prevention of all unlawful entries into the United States, including entries by terrorists, other unlawful aliens, instruments of terrorism, narcotics and other contraband.”
