Boston is a “sanctuary city,” one which refuses to cooperate federal immigration law enforcement. Often this noncompliance by sanctuary consists of releasing potentially dangerous criminal aliens without notifying Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). If ICE were notified it could pick up these individuals and deport them to their home countries.
The danger sanctuary policies pose to law-abiding citizens became evident recently when Boston released an illegal alien on bail who was charged with rape and larceny. Fortunately, ICE was able to apprehend him shortly after his release.
