Border Arrests Ramp Up

The Biden-inspired rush of migrants to the border heated up over the weekend. Border Patrol officials have announced the apprehension of scores of illegals in the Rio Grande Valley Sector of Texas since January 21.

  • Late last week, agents, acting on a Sheriff’s Office request, found a group of 71 illegal migrants crammed into a Garceno, Texas, mobile home serving as a stash house. Interviews revealed the illegals were natives of El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico.
  • Later, Corpus Christi Station agents found 14 illegal migrants from Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico in a railroad grain hopper.
  • In Hidalgo County, Texas, agents found 28 illegals in a stash house.
  • In Mission, Texas, near the Rio Grande, agents responding to a rescue beacon found another 48 people who had illegally crossed the border.

In all, 161 illegals were apprehended north of the border.

Not so lucky, to the south, in Camargo in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, were 19 suspected migrants whose charred bodies were found in two burned vehicles; each of the victims had been shot. Unconfirmed reports have identified the dead as Guatemalan nationals bound for the U.S. border.
