The budget proposal of House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) to counter President Obama’s amnesty edict is a weak and meaningless gesture, some House conservatives charge. They and other Boehner critics believe that his strategy is to postpone consideration of the edict until next year when he and his allies hope that public outrage against it will be less intense.
