Block the Abogados: Mexican Govt Sending Lawyers to Protect Illegals

As discussed here a couple of weeks ago, the Mexican national government is inordinately fond of its citizens living illegally in the United States. Not only are they safely out of the way, they also send back hefty remittances — to the tune of $63 billion last year — that make up a heavy portion of the Mexican economy. Now, to protect its repatriated nationals, Mexico City has cooked up a plan to send hundreds of lawyers northward to help protect them from deportation by the incoming Trump administration.

And we thought cartel gangbangers were bad.

To allow their native sons and daughters being threatened to the north, Mexico is providing — what else? — an app, called the “Alert Button.” When accosted by the ICE man, this app will enable Juan and Maria to alert the nearest Mexican consulate of their plight. The consulates will then call in los abogados (attorneys), who are said to number 329 across the US.

The new plan is part of Mexico’s “Know Your Rights” program, the purpose of which, according to Foreign Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente, is “to tell our fellow countrymen that they are not alone and they will not be alone.” De la Fuente added that Mexican authorities will be “very vigilant in ensuring that due process is followed.”

As though the American Immigration Lawyers Association, which fights to admit and retain every migrant conceivable, weren’t enough, now we’ve got hundreds of Mexican lawyers to deal with. ¡Caramba!
