President Biden, according to reports, is going to allow Proclamation 10052 to expire. Signed by President Trump last year, it suspended H-1Bs and other temporary foreign worker visas. The purpose of the measure was to help American workers find employment while the nation suffered a high level of unemployment due the Covid-19 lockdowns.
As one Trump Administration official explained “In order to ensure that we are hiring Americans first, we are putting a pause on certain non-immigrant visas into the United States . . . for the purpose of ensuring that Americans can get jobs here in the U.S.”
