Biden Renews Migrant Program

The Biden Administration is resuming the Advance Travel Authorizations program which was suspended earlier this summer because of charges that applicants were fraudulently claiming that they had sponsors in the U.S. Under the program as many as 30,000 migrants from four countries, Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, are allowed entry to the U.S. each month if they claim they are asylum seekers.
Once they arrive, they are likely to stay, regardless of what courts may decide about their asylum status. This program is part of the administration’s ongoing effort to “control” illegal immigration by making it “orderly” and legal. The administration claims that it has taken steps to eliminate sponsorship fraud. Approximately a half-million migrants have entered the U.S. under this program.
