Apparently not satisfied with the damage they’ve done in the previous three-plus years, Joe Biden and DHS head Mayorkas are planning one last(?) blow to their fellow citizens. The two will unveil a new smart-phone app for illegal migrants that will “allow migrants to skip their in-person check-ins at an ICE office and instead check in [remotely] with immigration officials.” This virtual check-in neither searches the migrant’s background for arrests nor is it a reliable indicator of his current location. A migrant using the app can lie about where he is with impunity, an advantage in-person meetings obviously lack.
The announcement of the new app struck a nerve in New York City, which has witnessed more than 223,000 migrants arrive since early 2022. The city has spent $3.7 billion in housing, food, and other costs in the 2024 fiscal year alone. Republican New York City councilman Joe Borelli told Fox News Digital that many had hoped the crisis would “wind down” ahead of the re-entering Trump administration. Instead, he said:
These actions taken during the death gargles of the Biden administration are disheartening, to say the least. This doesn’t seem to be in the spirit of the peaceful transition Biden promised. This is a last-ditch effort to usurp the will of the people who voted decisively against sanctuary city policies and unrestrained illegal immigration.
In addition, Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-R) said this loosening of restrictions by the administration “defies logic and common sense.” He went on:
It is appalling that in the waning days of the Biden administration, [Homeland Security Secretary] Alejandro Mayorkas is seeking to loosen restrictions on those who crossed the border illegally in the biggest sanctuary city in the country.
The Post summed it up:
If there’s ever been a more arrogant, lawless administration, we can’t think of one.
