Biden: About That $450K. . .

Late last year we posted a couple of times about an insane plan on the part of the Biden administration to settle lawsuits brought by 940 families separated during the Trump years with payouts in the amount of $450,000 per person. (Over 5,000 individuals are involved.) This ridiculous number had brought forth responses sufficiently outraged to cause Biden and company to backpedal late in the year, announcing they would settle each suit individually.

Now we hear, by way of Breitbart and CBS News, that the administration wants to quash the suits altogether, claiming that the families–in the words of CBS–“are not eligible for compensation under the Federal Tort Claims Act, citing the discretion U.S. officials have over the detention and processing of migrants.”

This position, in turn, has resulted in Biden being put by the federal judiciary in a position all too familiar to President Trump. Recently, U.S. Magistrate Judge Kandis Westmore denied the administration’s request to drop one such lawsuit brought by an illegal alien family, saying:

The fact that the Government is now attempting to evade liability for a policy that is still being unwound, as some children are still waiting to be reunited with their families, is not legally defensible.

And so it goes. For Joe Biden, the lesson is, One reaps what one sows.
