Arizona to Biden: Barricade Stays ‘Til You Build a Wall

As noted here yesterday, the Biden administration last week ordered the state of Arizona to remove the double-stacked shipping containers placed along the border to halt illegal migration from Mexico.

On Tuesday Arizona replied. The Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs sent a letter to the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, declaring that the containers would not be removed until the federal government builds a permanent barrier. The letter said:

[T]he containers will remain in place until specific details regarding construction are provided.

The next day, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey followed up with this tweet:

Arizonans cannot — and will not — wait for federal bureaucrats to do their job and secure the border. We’re taking action now.

This case is but another skirmish in the ongoing battle over border policy between Republican governors like Ducey and Texas governor Greg Abbott and the Biden administration.
