A CNS News Poll found that 53 percent of Americans approve of what President Trump has done since he entered office a month ago. Forty-seven percent disapprove.
On the topic of illegal immigration, 59 percent support Trump’s general effort to deport illegal aliens, with 41 percent disapproving. Sixty-six percent of whites favor it, along with 49 percent of blacks and Hispanics, respectively. Majorities of all age brackets support the effort: those 65 and older (62 percent); 45 to 65 (63 percent); 30 to 55 (55 percent); and 56 percent under the age of 30.
On specific steps to deal with illegal immigration, 64 percent support “sending U.S. troops to the U.S.-Mexico border, to try to help stop migrants from crossing.” However, 52 percent disapprove of establishing “large detention centers, where people would be sent and held, while the government determined whether or not they should be deported.”
