Border Apprehensions Plummet

The Border Patrol reports that apprehensions of illegal aliens have declined to the lowest level in 55 years. In fiscal 2025, which began in Oct. 1, 2024 and ended the first of October this year, the Border Patrol apprehended 237,565 illegal crossers. Almost three-quarters of those apprehensions took place during the final three months of the Biden Administration.

Since President Trump took office nine months ago the total was just 65,539. Potential border crossers have gotten the word that Trump means business, and they have decided to stay where they are.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that there was an average of only 279 apprehensions per day at the Mexican border in September. This is “95 percent lower than the last administration’s daily average of 5,110 from February 2021 through December 2024.”
