If an open rebellion — or, dare we say, an insurrection — against the Trump administration is to break out, it seems California is the most likely flashpoint.
On Tuesday, the medical staff of Ontario Advanced Surgery Center, located about 30 miles east of Los Angeles, scuffled with ICE agents attempting to arrest an ilegal alien from Honduras. The man, Denis Guillen-Solis, had fled from the agents and sought refuge at the clinic. There, the staff tried to prevent his arrest by locking the door and blocking the agents’ vehicles from departing. Guillen-Solis was eventually arrested and taken away — or “kidnapped” as his defenders would have it.
Also on Tuesday, protesters wearing masks and keffiyehs in San Francisco fought with ICE agents attempting to arrest an unidentifed illegal.
Then, on Thursday, shots were fired by an unknown person protesting a raid on a marijuana farm near Camarillo, rumored to hire illegal workers. The FBI has offered a $50,000 reward leading to the man’s arrest. The farm is now under investigation for violation of child labor laws.
Meanwhile, California Governor Newsome was getting a jump start on the 2028 presidential campaign in South Carolina(!). There, former state Democratic Party chairman Dick Harpootlian said he “would find it hard to find a foothold in many places.”
