Failed vice presidential candidate Tim Walz likened Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to the Gestapo during a speech at at the law school of the University of Minnesota. ICE is the federal agency that is legally authorized to detain and deport illegal aliens. The Gestapo was the secret police force which operated in Hitler’s Germany.
In his speech, the far-left Minnesota governor stated that “I’m gonna start with the flashing red light — Donald Trump’s modern-day Gestapo [ICE] is scooping folks up off the streets. They’re in unmarked vans, wearing masks, being shipped off to foreign torture dungeons.”
The Department of Homeland Security made the following reply to Waltz’s statement: “It is absolutely sickening to compare ICE law enforcement agents to the Gestapo. Attacks and demonization of ICE and our partners is wrong. ICE officers are now facing a 413 percent increase in assaults. Our message is clear: Do not come to this country illegally. If you do, we will arrest you, deport you and you will never return.”
