Wu to Illegals: “You Belong Here”; ICE Disagrees

Boston’s leftist mayor Michelle Wu last week promised the area’s sizeable illegal migrant population continued sanctuary from federal immigration officials attempting to enforce the law. At the same time, between March 18 and 23, agents of the US Customs and Enforcement agency (ICE) were busy rounding up 400 illegals from around the state, most of them (370) from Boston itself. Of those netted in the Boston raids, more than 200 were facing serious charges or convictions for such crimes as murder, drug trafficking, organized crime, and money laundering. Some were members of gangs such as MS-13 and Tren de Aragua.

While the raids were underway and during her State of the City address last week, Wu doubled down on her insistence that city officials would not aid ICE. The daughter of Taiwanese immigrants even cited American history to justify her resistance, telling the city’s illegals:

No one tells Boston how to take care of our own, not kings, and not presidents who think they are kings. Boston was born facing down bullies. You belong here.

ICE countered with the facts, pointing out the high percentage of gang members nabbed in the raids and also the large amount of confiscated dangerous drugs, including 44 kilograms of methamphetamines, five kilograms of fentanyl, and 1.2 kilograms of cocaine.

The message is clear: If Mayor Wu wants to “face down bullies,” she should start with the violent and dangerous thugs she is harboring.
