Trump to Remove CHNV Protections

Of all the cynical, law-evading programs concocted by the Biden administration to enable illegal aliens to flood the US, the so-called “CHNV” program might take the cake. Named for the nations whose citizens it eventually came to protect (Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela), CHNV “parole” made it possible for nationals of those countries to avoid the border by flying over it and enter America with every expectation of being thereafter protected from deportation.

The CHNV program was created in October 2022 when the administration began admitting Venezuelans. Three months later it was expanded to include Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Cubans. By July of 2024, it had acquired a reputation for so much fraud that Biden himself put it on pause. It was soon restarted, however, but Trump stopped it for good on his first day in office.

No new applicants were coming in, but what of the more than 500,000 “parolees” already here? This week, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin announced that those illegals currently under protection from deportation by CHNV were having that protection removed. McLaughlin told the New York Post: “The Trump Administration is restoring integrity back into our immigration system.” She said, adding that the illegals were being encouraged “to leave now” or else face the consequences. “If aliens do not leave the country they will be tracked down and face additional financial penalty — and potentially criminal,” she warned.
