Denver Mayor Proposes Insurrection

Denver’s Democrat Mayor Mike Johnson has called for what would amount to an insurrection against any future attempts by the in-coming Trump Administration to enforce immigration laws in his city. He indicated that Denver police (DPD) and masses of ordinary citizens should defy such attempts, which are authorized by federal statutes.

Said Johnson: “More than us having DPD stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there. It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right? You’d have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.”

Federal statute 18 USC 111 states that “forcibly resisting, impeding or intimidating” a federal officer carrying his official duties is a crime punishable by up to three years in prison. The term is up to ten years if the person convicted uses a dangerous weapon.

Some Democrats seem motivated by the strategy outlined by Democratic political strategist Robert Creamer in his book How Progressives Can Win. Creamer calls on his party to defend illegal aliens and help them get a pathway to citizenship. Out of gratitude, he maintains, they will become a loyal (and large) voting bloc for the party.
