Fink Says Something Remarkable

It’s almost an unshakable dogma of globalist elites, one spread by their subservient media, that population growth is necessary for prosperity. To ensure that this happens, unending mass immigration is necessary, supposedly to fill “labor shortages.”

Thus it comes as an astounding surprise that one the world’s leading economic elitists has expressed a different viewpoint. He is Larry Fink, the founder of BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager.

At a pro-globalist gathering, the World Economic Forum, Fink stated, “I can argue, in the developed countries, the big winners are the countries that have shrinking populations.” He then added:

“That’s something that most people never talked about. We always used to think [a] shrinking population is a cause for negative [economic] growth. But in my conversations with the leadership of these large, developed countries [such as China, and Japan] that have xenophobic anti-immigration policies, they don’t allow anyone to come in — [so they have] shrinking demographics — [But] these countries will rapidly develop robotics and AI and technology. . . .

“If a promise of all that transforms productivity, which most of us think that it will — we’ll be able to elevate the standard of living for individuals, even with shrinking populations.”

What is going on? Is this just a flash-in-the pan comment, never to be repeated again? Or could it reflect a genuine change of view in elite circles? The former seems more likely. In any case, it’s becoming harder to believe that we will have unending labor shortages when most forecasters predict that AI, robotics, and other automation will replace, fairly soon, a large share of jobs now done by people.
