Joining the ranks of Haitian-invaded Springfield, Ohio; Charleroi, Pennsylvania; and Albertville, Alabama, is the Indiana town of Logansport, in the northern part of the state. With a population of around 18,000, Logansport has added maybe 5,000 newcomers in just the past few years, consisting of legal and illegal migrants alike. They are from 28 different countries, but the majority hail from Haiti.
The results have been predictable: Crime has risen, the schools are overwhelmed with non-English-speaking students, hospital ERs are flooded with migrants, and rent has skyrocketed.
Local leaders have complained — to little effect. Republican Mayor Chris Martin says the town has not been informed as to how many more migrants to expect, nor has any help from Washington appeared. “The federal government has got to step in and help communities our size,” he said.
The reality is, Washington has already “stepped in” and done what it intended to do to Logansport, along with so many others.
