A poll by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs revealed that half of Americans view the on-going surge of migrants across our border is a “critical threat” to our country. The survey noted that “American concern over the large numbers of immigrants and refugees coming into the United States has been on the rise over the last several years, That reflects a dramatic rise in the number of encounters between the US Border Patrol and migrants seeking to enter the United States via the US-Mexico border.”
Eighty-three percent of Republicans, the survey found, view the migrant surge as a critical threat, followed by 45 percent of independents, and 27 percent of Democrats.
