We are sad to note the passing, at age 78, of CNN and FOX news commentator Lou Dobbs Dobbs was a pioneer in drawing national attention to the problems caused by legal and illegal immigration. In his broadcasts he regularly affirmed that mass immigration is a policy promoted by wealthy elites to reap profits from imported cheap labor.
He once stated that “It is time for Americans to understand that their elites have more than disappointed, they’ve actually tried to betray the very idea of the American dream by reducing the middle class to peons, in some cases trying to put them into a race to the bottom in competition with the cheapest labor in the world.”
Dobbs also took on Latino supremacist groups such as the National Council of La Raza (the Race) for promoting illegal immigration to increase their ethnic clout. They tried to discredit and silence him with hypocritical charges of “racism.” Dobbs didn’t cringe or back down.
Lou Dobbs was first and foremost a patriot. He displayed a journalism which encouraged meaningful debate about important national issues. He showed what journalism could be, in contrast to what it commonly is today: elitist propaganda to impose uniformity of thought.
