During his recent debate with President Biden, former President Donald Trump maintained that illegal aliens are given housing in “luxury hotels.” Specifically he said that “They’re living in luxury hotels in New York City and other places. Our veterans are on the street; they’re dying.” Critics questioned the accuracy of this claim.
Someone who has confirmed it is none other than New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Last year he noted that illegal aliens, whom he referred to as “asylum seekers” were living in hotels throughout the city, some of which fit the description of luxury accommodations.
Adams stated “Almost 50 percent of those hotel rooms are taken up by migrant asylum seekers that we are paying for. So instead of monies coming from people who are visiting us and spending in our tourism, in our Broadway plays, instead of them using those hotels, we are using those hotels [for migrants].” Meanwhile, as Trump pointed out, American citizens–including veterans–are homeless in the streets.
