Of all the word’s countries, Haiti is arguably the worst and is getting worse. This year, in addition to its wholesale collapse of anything resembling order, reports of cannibalism are even making the rounds. Joe Biden’s obsession with the fate of his “Uncle Bosie” notwithstanding, what we see, cannibalist or not, is a growing appetite on the part of Biden and DHS chief Mayorkas for the world’s excess, in particular, those from Haiti. Again, the Gruesome Twosome have increased the numbers of Haitians eligible for so-called Temporary Protected Status (TPS).
Mayorkas’s Department of Homeland Security announced on Friday that the TPS program for Haiti was being extended and “redesignated” for another 18 months until February 2026. (The program had already been extended during the Biden administration in late December 2022.) The redesignation will allow illegal Haitian migrants who were not covered by prior designations to apply for protection from removal and for work permits. This extension and redesignation will, according to DHS calculations, allow an estimated 309,000 additional Haitian nationals to file for TPS. The only requirement is that they must have been in the US as of June 3.
The mis-named TPS (In practice, it is hardly “temporary.” Some illegals have been been enjoying TPS protection literally for decades) currently applies to 16 countries, including Haiti, Venezuela, Ukraine, Honduras, El Salvador, Afghanistan, and others, all from the third world. TPS for Venezuela was redesignated and extended last year, which protected more than 470,000 nationals from that gang-ridden country.
As for Haiti, there were 163,781 encounters with illegal Haitian nationals at the border in Fiscal Year 2023, and FY 2024 has already exceeded that number. In addition, the administration has allowed Haitians to be flown into the US for “humanitarian parole,” a program that allows entrance to 30,000 illegals every month.
Yes, the appetite of our leaders, even in the face of widespread anger and dissatisfaction among the American electorate, is indeed insatiable. Pass the Haitians please!
