‘Asylum Seekers’ Fly from Safe Countries

For the past two years the Biden Administration has been flying alleged asylum seekers into the United States from their home countries. This program has authorized more than 460,000 to come here, mainly–according to press reports–from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. Once here they receive “humanitarian parole” for two years, while they wait presumably for an asylum hearing.

If turned down, they can abscond and never worry about being deported if the administration’s current lenient policies of immigration law enforcement remain in effect. Interestingly, they are not required to apply for asylum, which suggests that the program isn’t exactly designed to serve legitimate asylum seekers.

Another such indication comes from information that the Center for Immigration Studies obtained from the government. It turns out that the flights have come from 73 countries other than the ones already mentioned.

They include many safe countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Great Britain, and Finland where asylum seekers could obtain asylum rather apply for it here. Evidently, asylum is just an excuse they use to get into America where they calculate that their economic opportunities will be the greatest.
