As our government does little to stop the flood of illegal aliens coming across our southern border, it is encouraging that a foreign government may try to do something to that end. Panama’s newly-elected President Jose Raul Mulino campaigned on the promise of closing the Darien Gap in his country to migrants.
The Darien Gap is an area where a huge number of migrants pour through on their way to making illegal entry into our country. Closing it would make a significant contribution toward securing our border.
President Mulino has declared that “The border of the United States, instead of being in Texas, moved to Panama. We’re going to close the Darien, and we’re going to repatriate all these people. I am committed to ending this migratory crisis on our soil with a respect for human rights and robust international cooperation.”
