Rent is high everywhere, including Chicago, Illinois. From November 2021 to November 2022, Chicago’s average rent rose by 8.6%, from $1,773 to $1,925 and is still rising.
Not coincidentally, homelessness is high in Chicago as well. Over 68,000 persons are considered homeless there at any particular time.
If you’re in Chicago and you’re one of those homeless and you’re not an American citizen and you’re not here legally, YOU’RE IN LUCK! The state of Illinois is now providing illegal migrants in the city of Chicago up to $9,000 in rental assistance, including assistance with moving in and a starter kit to furnish their new digs! Congratulations! You’ve shown excellent foresight, first in choosing a foreign birthplace and then in sneaking into the U.S., eschewing the complex and messy legal immigration process.
Don’t you pity those poor citizen slobs still out in the streets?
