Last week, we commented on NYC Mayor Eric Adams’s demand that all 100,000-plus illegal migrants in his city be given work permits. As we noted at the time, that action would be playing directly into the hands of the human trafficking cartels, with whom the Biden administration has been working–whether they admit it or not–since Biden took office. The easier it becomes for an illegal alien to get a work permit, the more incentive there is for him to come or be brought here–for both adults and minor children.
Already, as we also mentioned, something little short of child slavery prevails in slaughterhouses, meat-packing plants, fast food restaurants, etc, all over the country, as the NYT’s April report, “Alone and Exploited, Migrant Children Work Brutal Jobs Across the U.S.,” documented. Now the New York Post has published a number of articles revealing how 13-year-old migrants have been used to clean a slaughterhouse in Nebraska, how 10-year-olds have been found working at a Kentucky McDonald’s until 2 am, how a 15-year-old girl was put to work in a food-packaging plant in Michigan, and so on.
Generally, these instances of illegal child labor are unconvered during inspections by the Department of Labor. Astoundingly, however, the DOL and ICE, the enforcement arm of the Department of Homeland Security, do not routinely share such information. In fact, the policy is for ICE to hold off on inspecting sites under DOL investigation until the investigation is concluded, which can take years. By that time, the illegally employed minors will have been moved on to another site and ICE will find nothing, exactly what they are hoping to find.
The government could not be cooperating with the cartels more fully if it tried.
