Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) has proclaimed on a number of of occasions that Chicago is a “welcoming sanctuary city” for illegal aliens. This means that Chicago will not cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to remove illegals from the city.
Recently. however, she attacked Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) for sending illegal migrants from the Texas border to Chicago and other sanctuary cities where, presumably, they would find welcome and benefits. Lightfoot, however, has redirected the migrants Abbott sent to Chicago to the nearby suburb of Burr Ridge. Perhaps, she doesn’t want to be too welcoming, especially when it may come with a rising price tag.
