25,000 Illegals Expected in Chicago for DNC

The city of Chicago will host the Democratic National Convention beginning August 19. Officials are expecting more than 5,000 delegates, about 12,000 volunteers, and maybe 50,000 visitors. Some of those “visitors” may be coming to stay awhile in the Windy City, however, because up to 25,000 of them will be unhoused illegals coming up from the border, some coming on their own, others being bused courtesy of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

In a Chicago Tribune piece published July 23, reporter Jake Sheridan wrote that

In the event of a surge before and during the convention, . . . the city would first house new arrivals with its roughly 5,000 available beds. . . . If that’s not enough, a mix of city, county, state and federal funding would open several “just-in-time” shelters. . . .” Everything to be able to open these beds very quickly is beginning to fall into place.

Citing those “5,000 available beds,” Alderman William Hall said it is unfair that the city has that many empty beds at migrant shelters, but does not have space for its own homeless citizens:

Anyone that doesn’t have a place to stay should never be turned away. We have energy to fight for the unhoused that are coming from the border. We need to have that same energy for those who are unhoused from any side of the city.

Be that as it may, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is opening two new shelters for up to 1,700 migrants in the hopes of “getting [them] off streets and out of public view” during the convention.

Hiding the results of the Democrats’ insane border policies has become a oft-used tactic for the administration and various Dem-run cities. For example, when Vice President Kamala Harris made her one and only trip to the border on June 25, 2021, federal agents were ordered to completely “sanitize” the area around El Paso where she was visiting. According to unnamed agents, they “rented out a ton of hotels and . . . spent hours moving out bodies” from the streets.

As always, “Nothing to see here, keep moving,” is the motto of the Biden-Harris regime.
