The New York Post reported yesterday that 113,000 illegals have been arrested since Donald Trump took office Jan. 20, and more than 100,000 of them have already been deported. The campaign has been so successful that available detention space for arrestees has been maxed out, and ICE has requested additional funds for more as the roundup continues.
ICE and the CBP have concentrated initially on finding and taking into custody perpetrators of violent crimes and members of criminal gangs. On Sunday, 17 members of Tren de Aragua and MS-13 were flown to El Salvador for imprisonment there.
President Trump’s policies have obviously had an impact on migrants attempting to enter the United States illegally. Seven thousand migrants entered illegally in March, down 94% from the 137,000 people who came in last March. A DHS source told the Post that migrants are “scared there are consequences now. Everyone who is caught is charged and does time.”
