Pundit Mickey Kaus opines that President Obama has put himself in a box by promising Hispanic activists a new sweeping amnesty edict with congressional elections only a few months away. Obama wants to energize the Hispanic bloc vote, but many of the key races are in states with few Hispanic voters and growing public concern over the illegal alien crisis at the border.
Kaus concludes that Obama may issue more modest amnesty edicts prior to the 2014 elections as a “down payment” to his Hispanic and leftist supporters to get them to the polls, but wait on a mass amnesty edict for millions of illegals until after the election to avoid raising the ire (and turnout) of conservative Republicans.
