The Times Demonizes Trump

More false and misleading commentary from the “mainstream” media:

“It’s not just Donald Trump, or Ted Cruz, or the rest who would expel immigrants by the millions. . . . So deep is the Republican fear that a once-feasible campaign for immigration reform now lies damaged beyond hope and recognition. . . . ‘I think he doesn’t understand the problems our country has.’ Mr. Trump said of the pope last week, showing the depth of ignorance that is his trademark. “I don’t think he understands the danger of the open border we have with Mexico.”

Pope Francis understands these problems and dangers. . . . It takes courage to live in Juarez . . . or to leave it and cross north to new lives. It takes no courage to demonize immigrants from the safety of the United States, and to stoke fear, for the sake of votes and power. – The New York Times, The Editorial Board 2/17/16

Fact Check: As is common with open border advocates, the Times doesn’t distinguish between legal immigrants and illegal aliens. Thus, the reasonable notion of enforcing our immigration by deporting illegal aliens becomes one of expelling “immigrants” by the millions.

Another typical misuse of language is describing amnesty for illegal aliens as “reform.” Usually, that word means an action to improve an existing situation, but just how is rewarding people who have broken our laws with legal status and citizenship supposed to alleviate our country’s problem with illegal immigration? Common sense tells us that rewarding an activity will only encourage more of it. And more illegal immigration is precisely what we’ve gotten from past amnesties.

The Times displays another common tactic of open border advocates, the attribution of personal deficiency, and only that, to explain opposing viewpoints. Thus it is impossible, in the view of the Times Editorial Board, that Donald Trump could have legitimate concerns about a border out of control. No, Trump simply has a problem with “fear” and “the depth of ignorance that is his trademark.” The Times denounces Trump for “demonizing” so-called “immigrants,” but it has no problem with demonizing him.

The Editorial Board assures readers that Pope Francis understands the problems and dangers on our borders. But it is exceedingly difficult to find in any of the pope’s statements any empathy for the Americans who suffer from those problems and dangers.

The Times praises the courage of illegal aliens who break our laws, and suggests that Trump’s stand against illegal immigration is not so brave. In reality, it takes a good bit of courage for an American politician to advocate border control and other effective measures against illegal immigration. Any political figure who tries will face the unrelenting wrath of America’s business and political establishment and its media, such as The New York Times.

That establishment seeks profits as well as “votes and power” from illegal immigration, as it encourages media fire against any and all who seek enforcement of our immigration laws. No courage is necessary to attack those patriots when you’re safe, protected, and well-paid in the offices of America’s most prestigious newspaper.
