Scott Walker Takes Strong Position on Immigration

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a possible 2016 GOP presidential candidate, has pledged to protect American workers from the economic effects of both illegal and legal immigration.  This makes him the first declared or potential candidate to go beyond opposing amnesty and calling for a secure border.  Walker told TV host Glenn Beck that his past support for amnesty changed after he went to the border and discussed the issue in depth with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL).

On the issue of massive legal immigration levels, he said: “…the next president and the next congress need to make decisions about a legal immigration system that’s based on, first and foremost, on protecting American workers and American wages…”
