One in 4 of Children Have Immigrant Parent

A survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 20 million children in the U.S. (23 percent of the total) have at least one immigrant parent. More than half them live in four states, California (23 percent), Texas (13 percent), New York (8 percent) and Florida (8 percent). Approximately eight million of the children with an immigrant parent are covered under Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
