Retired immigration officer Michael Cutler takes issue with a statement by Fox News star Bill O’Reilly that he had no problem with “law abiding illegal aliens” who are “simply” working in the United States. O’Reilly has led the campaign to shame Congress into passing “Kate’s Law” to give heavy mandatory prison sentences for illegal reentry by illegal aliens previously convicted of aggravated felonies and deported.
Cutler notes that the immigration system must have integrity and that the immigration laws are essential to protecting national security, public safety, and the jobs of Americans. Cavalier attitudes toward visas, border security and massive alien lawbreaking led us to 12 million or more illegals here today — and were a factor allowing most of the 9/11 terrorists to enter and remain in the U.S. until their attack.
