New Regulation Would Replace Flores

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is issuing a new regulation which would replace the Flores regulation which requires the release of children accompanying asylum applicants after twenty days. The Flores rule has encouraged bogus asylum seekers to bring children with them because the time limit on holding children makes it more likely that those making asylum claims will be released with the children while their claims are pending. Quite often they skip the asylum hearings and disappear.
Under the new regulation children can be held until the asylum claim is decided. Illegal alien advocates profess compassion for the children brought here, yet they oppose the new regulation which would discourage child trafficking across the border. Evidently they prefer the status quo which facilitates illegal immigration.
