As the consequence of unrelenting mass immigration, forty-four million U.S. residents, one of every seven, is foreign-born. Many do not speak English well, as shown by the finding of the Migration Policy Institute that 22 percent of the U.S. population does not speak English at home. The states with the highest percentage of non-English speaking households were Nevada (31 percent) and Florida (29 percent).
