Grim Future for Most American Workers

“For most people, a secure, well-paid job is the difference between a reasonable life and penury.  Today, changes in the structure of the work force driven by globalization and technology make this objective increasingly elusive.”  Thus begins an article published Monday in MarketWatch.

“While there are well-paid jobs for a small portion of the workforce with the required skills, the vast majority of new employment is in the low-paid service sector.”

This frightening article refutes the establishment, cheap labor interest claim that the U.S. needs massive immigration and guest worker admissions to solve a mythical “labor shortage,” although the author does not address the immigration problem or offer solutions to falling wages and growing unemployment.
