Texas Governor Rick Perry is reported to be preparing to send 1,000 Texas National Guard troops to assist state troopers already at areas near the border working to contain drug and human trafficking. A press conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Austin.
A group of conservative, tea party and other grassroots activists recently with Perry to demand that he send the National Guard to the border.
