President-elect Trump’s transition team knew that nominating Sen. Jeff Sessions for Attorney General would set off controversy. Sessions is the Senate’s most high-profile and knowledgeable opponent of amnesty — a man who sincerely believes in enforcing the nation’s immigration laws enacted by Congress to protect Americans.
President Obama, failing in his efforts to persuade Congress to change those laws to grant amnesty and massive increases in legal admissions, stopped enforcing the laws he did not like and gave executive amnesty to millions of illegals. A new president and attorney general may now resume enforcing the laws and revoke Obama’s decrees — no congressional approval needed.
Panicked Democrats and their friends in the corporate media are left with their trump card — the race card. Smearing Sen. Sessions as a racist to stop him from becoming attorney general is seen as their best hope of preserving Obama’s open borders legacy.
